Fifty school buses can carry 2,500 kids. 2,500! That is how many children are reported missing every day! Every year over 1% of the children in the US are reported missing. These are alarming statistics, but what do they mean to you?
To put it simply, if you are a mother with 4 children it's more than 50% likely that you will report one of your children missing to the authorities before they are grown.
It may seem as if kidnappings and runaways are situations that happen to other people, but this is a problem that no parents can afford to ignore. Missing and endangered children are exposed to violence, drugs and all sorts of abuses.
These alarming facts are why KidSave was created. We want to help parents do everything possible to ensure the safety of their children before a crisis occurs.
Please read on to learn what you can do to protect your children and the children that you love.
Protecting the Children You Love
Protecting children requires Education, Preparation and Decisive Action.
Parents must educate themselves about how to keep their children out of dangerous situations.
Children must learn to recognize dangerous or inappropriate behaviorsin others and how, when and where to seek safety in a dangerous situation.
Even with education and street-smarts, we must be prepared for the unlikely event of an emergency involving our own children. Parents, grandparents and guardians are encouraged to keep detailed records identifying their children and to have those records available in an instant, should there ever be an emergency involving that child.
Acting decisively in an emergency is key to the safe and successful return of your child. Law enforcement agencies have limited resources and missing children's organizations usually get involved only after the child has been missing for some time. It is up to you to help these agencies to their job by providing them with the maximum information in the shortest possible time after an emergency is recognized.
To protect our children we must Educate, Prepare and Act Decisively. Please read on to see how joining the KidSave organization can help you to keep your children safe.
